Remarkable Together: The Power of Community in Mexico City
On 29th October 2024, Paola Guerra and Monica Acosta, two #IAmRemarkable facilitators based in Mexico City, hosted an impactful satellite event for the #IAmRemarkable Awards.
The event was held at Cisco Systems, and was connected with the central London event via Zoom.
Watch: The moment the satellite events linked up live to the central ceremony!
Monica and Paola successfully brought together 29 local #IAmRemarkable facilitators and the event was a catalyst for building connections, strengthening the local #IAmRemarkable community, and creating a local chapter.
Paola said of the agenda: ‘We structured the event with some ice breakers to get to know each other to begin with, after which we all watched the awards ceremony together. When it was finished we had a 30 minute networking session where facilitators brainstormed ideas to sustain and grow the #IAmRemarkable Mexico chapter’
Most attendees were meeting for the first time, resulting in the formation of new professional and personal connections.
The #IAmRemarkable Mexico City event was a resounding success and has laid the foundation for a thriving local community.
Since the event in October, Paola and Monica have been working together on next steps to ensure a bright future for their local hub.
- #IAmRemarkable Mexico Chapter: The #IAmRemarkable Mexico chapter was initiated, with plans for quarterly reviews and meetings with the central #IAmRemarkable team to share ideas and expand the movement’s reach to new communities.
- Upcoming Events: The next event- a skill sharing session between facilitators- is planned for February, showing the chapter’s commitment to sustained activity.
- Support for Facilitators: The community aims to offer newly trained facilitators a supportive environment to prepare for their first workshops, fostering confidence and skill-sharing.
- WhatsApp Community: Following the event, a WhatsApp group was created to maintain momentum. The group includes a general support channel, a "Remarkable Wednesdays" channel for ongoing engagement, and a space for tips and tricks to use in workshop delivery.

Monica and Paola have a longstanding partnership which benefited them greatly in the organisation of this event. Monica’s strong network facilitated seamless logistics, including securing the venue, arranging refreshments, and organizing materials, whilst Paola’s creativity shone through in personalized social media posts for each attendee, reinforcing their identity as part of the Mexico chapter.
We asked them what advice they would give to any facilitator thinking of becoming a local lead:
Monica: ‘Utilize the templates. Leverage the provided communication, branding, and templates to ensure consistency. Follow a clear blueprint.
Paola: 'Be sure to plan ahead. Set RSVP deadlines at least a month before the event so you don’t have registrations after a certain point.'
A resounding success
The #IAmRemarkable Mexico City event was a resounding success and has laid the foundation for a thriving local community. Thanks to the dedication of Paola Guerra and Monica Acosta, the Mexico chapter is poised to grow, inspire, and support a new generation of facilitators and participants.
